Marcus Meloni is CEO of one of Europe’s largest communication service providers. When the company he was working at while attending university went bankrupt in 2002, he put his life’s savings into buying the firm, allowing its nearly 100 employees to keep their jobs. He recruited seasoned talent and – with a combination of fresh entrepreneurial spirit, experience and integrity – transformed it into a successful company with over 7,000 employees. In 2015, he sold the company to the British Capita plc.
His business philosophy remains the same to this day: success is the goal, but with a sense of purpose, a profound understanding of the world around him and heartfelt dedication to the company and the people for whom he is responsible. As a business leader, his focus is on innovative ideas, long-term strategies, outstanding customer loyalty and creating synergy effects to unite divisions of companies and entire sectors. He speaks five languages fluently, is solutions-oriented and authentic – a man of action who goes the extra mile for his clients and staff, is not afraid to roll up his sleeves when he has to and succeeds in motivating others with his keen enthusiasm.
In the world of sport, he combines his expertise as a successful business leader with his personal experience in professional football. Once an active player himself, he led his club to success as an official and maintains an excellent international network to this day, helping him stay abreast of the latest developments in the industry. He is at home the world over, both personally and professionally, making him a knowledgeable observer and insider of nearly all of the world’s football leagues. Marcus Meloni is also the president of the Swiss football club AS CALCIO Kreuzlingen, where he is dedicated to promoting opportunities for young people – a commitment that has even inspired him to set up the MMR Youth Sports Stiftung foundation.
